Barry Bates Jr.

Barry is the Head Coach of the REAL Hoops 11U Basketball Team.  Barry has a great desire to teach young kids the game of basketball. He has put in many hours of studying the game as well as playing the game which has allowed him to become one of the best coaches that REAL Hoops has on staff.  Coach Barry believes that “you are never too young to be a professional” and he tries to apply that way of thinking into his players.  One of his coaching idols is the legendary coach Phil Jackson and his favorite basketball team to watch/study is the North Carolina Tarheels.

REAL Hoops is proud to call Barry one of our own and we are looking forward to the future as Barry continues to put in the necessary time and work that is needed to not only become a great coach but to also change the lives of the many players he comes in contact with.

Personal: Barry was born in Hawaii but he graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque, NM.  He is married to Juliet Bates and they have 3 children (Sonny 21, Janee 17, Jaclyn 11).
